This little jewel was purchased from a friend who bought it at an auction. I’m rather thrifty, and don’t usually pay this much for furniture ($140)…but it was in excellent condition. The only problem I had was deciding what color to paint it – even though it looked great as it was.
This was the before pic – a very stately piece.
And the after, with a coat of paris grey/old white mix, then clear wax and a teeny bit of dark wax to highlight. I think I might add some old white to the detailing on the drawer and doors – it needs a little something. I distressed the edges slightly with a sanding sponge.
I hope everyone is ready for the holidays. Merry Christmas from Southern Junk Chic!! :)

I would definately say that you transformed this piece. Wow, what an improvement! I am having a really hard time with the dark wax with my chalk paint. I still have a lot of work to do to master it. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLove how she turned out! I've been dying to paint - several pieces waiting for me in the garage.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! The before was nice, but it honestly looks so much better fresh and bright :) I'm working on a hutch at the moment and I'm worried about the paint getting on the glass. I taped it off but I'm worried it'll seep though. Any tips?
ReplyDeleteThe chalk paint has really transformed the piece.
ReplyDeleteI love how it turned out!
